I don't normally blog about kit but this is exceptional if you travel overseas and work from your phone, tablet or laptop.

We've been using these devices for a few years now and many of our clients who run international trips and expeditions have now opted for this rather than have international roaming on their trip phones (and the potential large bills that go with them).

With this option calls and basic SMS are retained with your home network e.g. Vodafone or Singtel or Bell and you cancel international roaming for data.

You then buy a prepaid data SIM when you land in country - most countries offer a reasonable one (shelf life/data allowance) for around the $20USD mark and pop it in the Mifi device. The device will automatically register and fire up with a signal. The SIM card can often be topped up online via it's local pre pay service.

The device can be connected to up to 5 phones, laptops, tablets just like a wifi router. Use it when you're out of reach of free wifi in a cafe or hotel. Whatsapp, Viber, Email, Maps and the odd Google search or Blog are not a problem. Charging is via a micro USB (so your phone charger if you run Android or Blackberry)

A popular brand is Huawei and it's available on Amazon for around £80.00.
